Powerball lottery

UPDATE: Powerball lottery: 2 tickets match $687.8M jackpot winning numbers, 2 N.J. tickets win $1M

The Powerball lottery jackpot has swelled to $750 million for Saturday night’s drawing and there’s still time before the deadline to buy lottery tickets.

The cash option for tonight’s Powerball drawing is an estimated $428.6 million if someone matches the winning numbers drawn. If someone wins Saturday, it would be the fourth largest lottery prize in U.S. history, though it would still be well short of the $1.5 billion Mega Millions jackpot won on Tuesday.

The Powerball jackpot of $750 million is estimated and could rise in the final day of ticket sales.

The Powerball winning numbers will be drawn at 10:59 p.m. and NJ.com will publish the numbers at www.nj.com/lottery.

For those who want to watch live, there are several options.

Powerball drawings are held on Wednesday and Saturday nights.

The sales cutoff times vary by state and are typically one or two hours prior to the 10:59 p.m. drawing. So make sure your purchase gets in before the deadline.

Winners can remain anonymous in six states — Delaware, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and South Carolina.

In Michigan, winners are anonymous unless they win Mega Millions or Powerball prizes. There are some other ways to claim a lottery prize through a limited liability corporation, but that gets complicated.

In Arizona, people who win more than $600 can keep their names secret for 90 days after claiming prizes, but after that names are public record.

Where

Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands!

Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET.

Sales cut-off times vary by one to two hours before the drawing, depending on the selling jurisdiction.

To find out where to watch the drawings, click here.

Power Play

Ask for Power Play® with your Powerball purchase!

For an additional $1 per play, the Power Play feature can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times!

The multiplier number is randomly selected just before each drawing.

The 10X multiplier is only in play when the advertised jackpot annuity is $150 million or less.

The Match 5 prize with Power Play is always $2 million.

Multi-Draw

Play the same set of numbers in multiple drawings!

Select the number of consecutive drawings you want to play in the Multi-Draw or Advance Play section of your play slip or tell the retailer how many drawings you wish to play.

The number of Multi-Draws or Advance Plays available for purchase is dependent on the selling jurisdiction.

How TALL

A Powerball jackpot of $40 million may not seem like much, but ask yourself this – is $40 million really a small amount of money? Is the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. a small building?

If you were to stack $100 bills, take a look at the heights the money would reach at each estimated jackpot amount.
