In D.C., parents use a lottery to try and get their kids into the public school of their choice. The system has been hailed for being user-friendly, but evidence is mixed as to whether it helps bring equity to the school system.

To figure out how your wait-list spots might play out, check out the historical data at My School DC Seats and Waitlist Offer Data. This shows the waitlist length on results day, and the total number of wait-list offers made by June, August and October for each school/grade.
