GoFundMe shuts down campaign for Tennessee woman who claims to have lost family fortune on Powerball tickets

    Hey, you never know.

The catchphrase for Powerball was the driving force behind this Tennessee woman’s GoFundMe before the website decided to shut down her get-rich-quick dreams, just like the lottery did.

Cinnamon Nicole and her family claimed to have spent their entire fortune on Powerball tickets, in a Hail Mary shot to win the record-setting $1.6 billion jackpot, the now-deleted GoFundMe read.

She said they expected to win the lottery, but the effort fell flat after failing to beat an astronomical 1 in 292 million odds.

Like demonstrating the definition of insanity, Nicole asked for $100,000 from donors, so she could try the same thing again and expect different results.

“With your small donation of at least $1.00, a like and one share, I’m certain that we will be able to pick ourselves up from the trenches of this lost (sic) and spend another fortune trying to hit it big again!”

For some commenters, this brazen request to fund her family’s lottery habit was a red flag that the GoFundMe was a hoax.

“Pretty sure she’s being sarcastic. Lighten up, people. ” Brittany Woods wrote on the page.

Others, who thought the campaign was serious, did not find any humor in the request.

“Honestly im (sic) not donating or sharing because this is a stupid request. This site is for people who REALLY need help not for people being irresponsible and wasting all of their money on the lottery,” Debbie Barker-Thompson said.

A woman's attempt to recover from her failed Powerball dreams was dashed after GoFundMe shut down the campaign. ]]>
