Powerball Winning Numbers For 2/06/2019 Drawing: $204M Jackpot

Here are the winning Powerball numbers for the jackpot drawing on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019.

By Deb Belt , Patch Staff
Feb 6, 2019 9:18 p m ET | Updated Feb 6, 2019 11:01 p m ET

As the jackpot tops the $200 million mark, Wednesday night’s Powerball prize is worth an estimated $204 million. The one-time cash payout for the Feb. 6 Powerball drawing will be an estimated $124.2 million to the player who correctly chooses all of the lottery numbers.

What time are the winning Powerball numbers drawn? Numbers are selected every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern time, with Powerball results typically posted within five minutes.

In most states, ticket sales stop at least an hour before the drawing, but a state may cut off sales earlier, such as Illinois, which ends sales three hours before the drawing. In Maryland and New Jersey, ticket sales end at 9:59 p.m.; in Virginia, they close at 10 p.m. Check with your state lottery for the sales cut-off time.

The winning Powerball numbers for Wednesday, Feb. 6, are: 05, 13, 28, 38, 63 and the Powerball of 21.

The largest Powerball jackpot in history was $1.586 billion, which was shared by winners in California, Florida and Tennessee in January 2016. Someone in South Carolina claimed the $1.6 billion Mega Millions jackpot on Oct. 23.

The Powerball game is played by matching all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball number. The odds of picking the correct Powerball grand prize numbers are one in 292,201,338. Powerball tickets cost $2 each, and are sold at thousands of Lottery retailers. Find out where you can buy your Powerball tickets here.

You have a better chance of hitting the jackpot if you let the computer pick your numbers, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association, which operates the Powerball game and reports that about 75 percent of winning tickets have numbers chosen by a computer.

The largest Powerball jackpots ever are as follows:

  • $1.586 billion, Jan. 13, 2016
  • $758.7 million, Aug. 23, 2017
  • $688 million, Oct. 27, 2018
  • $590.5 million, May 18, 2013
  • $587.5 million, Nov. 28, 2012
  • $564.1 million, Feb. 11, 2015
  • $559.7 million, Jan. 6, 2018
  • $487.0 million, July 30, 2016
  • $456 million, March 17, 2018
  • $448.4 million, Aug. 7, 2013
  • $447.8 million, June 10, 2017
  • $435.3 million, Feb. 22, 2017

When millions more players take part in the game at times there’s a huge jackpot, that doesn’t change your odds of winning, the lottery says. The odds of winning a prize are the same in every Powerball drawing — you have a 1 in 24.9 chance of winning a prize when the jackpot reaches $40 million or $1 billion.

The lottery game is played in 44 states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings can be seen on 125 TV stations nationwide. They may also be available on cable or your mobile device. Drawing shows are also posted to Powerball.com under the video section and to YouTube.

Claiming, Safeguarding Winnings

So, what should you do if you are lucky enough to claim the Powerball jackpot? Many lottery winners hire an attorney, financial planner or both, since most people don’t exactly know what to do when they suddenly come into so much money. Some even bring their lawyer with them to claim their prize. The lottery does not offer counseling services or financial advice for winners.

You have two choices when you claim your prize: the full value paid in 30 installments over 29 years, or a one-time lump sum that is smaller than the actual total. Then there are the taxes. The federal tax on lottery winnings is 25 percent. Then, any extra income taxes like state or city would apply.

Financial experts suggest that if you can get more than a 3 or 4 percent return on an investment, the lump sum is actually the best way to go in the long-term.

PayPal vs. Dwolla: Which is Right for You?

PayPal is one of the largest financial transaction tools available online. Boasting over 128 million accounts and exchanging payments in 25 currencies, PayPal is a dominate leader in online commerce.

Of course everyone loves to hate PayPal, too.

The company has had its fair share of negative press: from high costs for users to incompetent customer service to accounts being locked with thousands of dollars inside, they have developed a reputation of “can’t live with them, can’t live without them” among users.

The transaction marketplace is changing. New competitors are cropping up: Amazon has launched Amazon Payments which is similar in cost structure to users. But the most interesting new competitor to PayPal is Dwolla.

What is Dwolla?

Dwolla is payment network like PayPal and Amazon Payments. The company’s goal is to allow anyone with an Internet connected device to transfer money to another party at the lowest cost possible.

Transactions under $10 are free. Above that the transaction cost is a flat 25 cents. Yes, 25 cents total for the transaction.

Unlike PayPal and Amazon Payments, Dwolla disallows credit and debit cards. The company connects directly to your bank account to transfer funds. Avoiding the credit and debit card networks drastically reduces costs for users.

Comparing Dwolla and PayPal

Here are three areas of consideration to compare the two payment networks.

1. Transaction Costs

The biggest complaint about PayPal is the huge chunk of money it takes out of each transaction. Dwolla aims to disrupt that model by offering either free transactions or those that cost just $0.25 for the receiving party.

  • PayPal Buying & Selling:
    • Buyer: Free
    • Seller: 2.9% plus $0.30 (can be discounted down to 2.2% with heavy volume)
  • PayPal Sending Money to Friends and Family:
    • Funded From PayPal Balance or Bank Account: Free
    • Funded From Debit or Credit Card: 2.9% plus $0.30 (sender determines who pays fee)
  • Dwolla Buying & Selling:
    • Buyer: Free
    • Seller: Free if $10 or under, $0.25 if over $10
  • Dwolla Sending Money to Friends and Family:
    • Free if sending/receiving under $10, $0.25 if receiving over $10

As you can see if you are sending money from your PayPal/Dwolla account (tied directly to your bank account) to a friend, and you are sending $10 or under, the transaction costs the same: free.

Over $10 and Dwolla charges you 25 cents while PayPal is still free.

The big difference is for sellers looking to accept payments online. Dropping your total transaction cost down to 25 cents from 2.9% plus 30 cents is a huge difference. A seller with ten $100 transactions would go from paying $32 in PayPal fees to paying $2.50 in Dwolla fees. That really adds to the bottom line.

2. Security

PayPal touts it is the most secure payment network in the world thanks to being in business since 1999. They’ve got quite the headstart over Dwolla. Of course being the biggest also means you are the biggest target for hackers and scammers, and PayPal has had its issues with those.

Dwolla touts that its biggest security draw is that your personal financial information is never shared with the other party. All they get is either your email address, Dwolla ID, or phone number as part of the transaction. In theory they have no access to your bank account information or your personal identifying information which limits the threat of identity theft.

One key security difference is with PayPal if you pay with a credit card you have your credit card’s backing if a transaction goes awry. With Dwolla you are sacrificing this benefit to get the lower transaction costs.

3. Customer Service

PayPal has long had a reputation of just horrific customer service. Accounts locked for no reason, accounts banned for no reason, never being able to reach a human being on the phone . . . you name it, PayPal’s had it written about them. That comes with the territory when you are transacting $41 billion in the first quarter of 2013 alone. There just isn’t a way to put enough people in customer service to handle all of the issues (or so PayPal would have you believe; eBay as a whole did earn a net income of $677 million in Q1 of 2013 which would help pay for a lot of customer service reps).

While Dwolla does not list a customer service phone number on their homepage, there is a phone number available once you sign up for an account. Time will tell if Dwolla can live up to customer service expectations.

Should I Use PayPal or Dwolla?

If you are a business that currently accepts PayPal payments then Dwolla is a great alternative. Dropping PayPal’s 2.9% fee alone adds that much margin to your bottom line. If you are a coffee shop or other retailer with a majority of your transactions below $10 then you could accept payments for no charge.

If you normally use PayPal to send money to friends and family from a bank account, then the company has a slight edge because of the lack of fees it charges for any transaction amount. Dwolla charges you the nominal 25 cent fee on transactions over $10.

When it comes to security and getting in contact with either company, it seems that it’s possible to run into some frustration with either company. Dwolla is certainly the cheaper alternative, but PayPal has the most experience.

Which payment method is right for you as a business or consumer? Leave a comment and tell us which and why!

PayPal has been around a long time, but Dwolla has really low transaction rates – which should you choose? Here's a comparison of the two!

football pull tabs

Football pull tabs

The ultimate football numbers pool numbers game! Super Bowl square pools done easy and with 1/10th people and the headache! Play squares with Football Pulltabs with any game, any time of the year.

All you need is 10 people instead of the 100 people needed for a Super Bowl square pool. Pulltab players are assigned a random digit 0-9. Winners are determined by the sum of the last two numbers of the team scores.

Football Pulltabs allows players to play with anyone around the world, neighborhood or in your the living room. You can invite friends from your smartphone’s address book or from Facebook to participate. But players don’t even have to have the app to play! Game administrators can punch in your team name to allow non-app players to play.

Football Pulltabs also allows you to sync your game to LIVE NFL games. Play 1st, Half, 3rd quarters or the final score. If players want to play Pulltabs with college or even high school football, you can manually play that way too…..you can even manually play Pulltabs with any level of almost any team sport!

No skill necessary. Make the most mundane football game, insane…by playing Football Pulltabs!

You’ve got Pulltab Questions? We’ve got Answers!

How do you play?

You want to start by assembling 10 players to participate. Players can all be in proximity of each other (say a restaurant, a sporting event, party, etc.) but it’s not necessary. If you can’t find 10 people nearby, you can invite friends through your smartphone address book or invite them through Facebook. When starting a pulltab game, you need to determine:

1) The game you are playing the pulltab to; whether it is an NFL game (more on that later) or a non-NFL game.

2) The length of game (1st, 2nd, 3rd quarters or Final score)

Once you have 10 players, players pick a position 1 thru 10 to put their name. The position is not necessarily the digit they will be assigned.

Once all 10 slots are filled, you ‘pull’ downward on the tab to reveal a random digit 0-9. Each player gets a different number. This number will determine the winner of the pulltab.

Scoring is pretty straight forward. The winner is determined by adding the last two digits of the pre-determined football game quarter.

Say for example, the Dolphins are playing the Falcons and you are doing a pulltab for the first quarter. The first quarter ends and the score is Dolphins 7, Falcons 6. The player who has the number ‘3’ is the winner (07+06=13). If you play one for the 2nd quarter and the halftime score is Dolphins 14, Falcons 20, the pulltab plater with ‘4’ is the 2nd quarter.

If there was no score (Dolphins 0, Falcon 0) the winner of the pulltab would be the player that has ‘0’.

The pulltab results are always based on the current game score, not the points scored during that assigned time period. The game is over once that game’s time period has expired.

Games that go to overtime will not have a Pulltab winner a final score is determined.

Can you play with less than 10 players?

Yes, but you would have to fill in the leftover fields a ‘dummy’ name, such as ‘blank’ or a player that is actually playing should be offered a chance to take the vacant spots. The pulltab game will not proceed unless all 10 fields are filled in.

What is the ‘Sync’ feature?

For NFL games, you can get realtime updates on the game score and your Pulltab winner. The NFL games that are being played on a particular week are available to be synced.

Game administrators can manually update (or sync) non-NFL games by punching the scores and tapping the ’sync’ button. The current Pulltab leader will be highlighted/updated.

Down the road, we hope to be able to offer syncing to major college football games as well as NBA basketball games.

Can I start a Pulltab during a game that has already started?

Absolutely! If a game has already kicked off (or has started) you can do you Pulltab midway through a game. In theory, you can even do a Pulltab with a game that has already finished because pulltabs assign a random digit to a player. The score being final only takes away the mystery of what digit would be the winning pulltab number.

Can Pulltabs be played with games besides NFL games?

Yes. You can play with any sport. The game Admin (pulltab creator and manager) will need to manually update scores, but in theory, you can play with basketball, baseball or even hockey…..professional or amateur! Obviously, Football Pulltabs works better in sports that involve more scoring, but the game can be played with almost any team sport.

Do you need the app to participate?

No. The pulltab game Admin can type in other participant’s names and the game can be conducted on as little as on one Pulltab app owner.

Having the app, however, allows you to see what other player’s numbers are and follow along with game updates. It also allows for participant’s all-time record to be tracked/registered.

How many games can I play at one time?

You can play as many as you want, but can only sync 3 NFL games at one time.

How do games count against your record?

Only completed Pulltab game will count against your record (viewable in your ‘Player Profile’). Cancelled games will not register to your overall record/profile.

How come a game is non-synced game is still in my history?

Occasionally, game administrators will forget to finish syncing a pull tab. The result is a incomplete game and only the admin can cancel or end a game. Until he does that, the game will appear in the ongoing games section. The result will not be reflected in the completed games (and consequently in your win/loss record under ‘player profile’) until this is done.

In the ‘Current Games’ sections, what is the difference between ‘My Games’ and ‘Ongoing Games?’

‘My Games’ are Pulltab games created by you on your app whereas ‘Ongoing Games’ are games that you are participating in that you are an invitee.

The ultimate football numbers pool numbers game! Super Bowl square pools done easy and with 1/10th people and the headache! Play squares with FootlBall Pulltabs with any game, any time of the year.
